In the spectrum of saddles offered by Selle Italia, the SL fits in nicely near the wildly popular SLR in terms of lightness and style of fit. However this SL Kit Carbonio Saddle is a bit wider, at 143mm. In fact, it's wider than both the Flite and SLR models. This makes it great if you have wider sit bones and don't feel like the narrower saddles offer the right kind of support. Don't think for a second that it's just suitable for cruising. The side profile is marked by a generous curve that leaves the SL no wider than the SLR through the mid-section and towards the nose. This way, you can have the support you need and still have plenty of room for your legs to cycle up and down without chafing or pinching at the edge of a too-wide saddle. And in comparison to the SLR, the edges of the saddle roll down more acutely, more akin to the shell cross-section seen on the Flite. Traditionally, Selle Italia uses the terminology "Carbonio" to refer to carbon-fiber rails and "Kit" to the 30% carbon content of the shell. However this saddle has neither. So the name is a misnomer, but the saddle is still very much a high performance perch. The manganese rails are plenty strong, and their tubular design allows them to be lightweight as well. The injection molded shell is made using a fiberglass reinforced nylon. On top, the Eva foam padding is lightweight and offers just enough support without leaving your soft parts feeling too much pressure. The Selle Italia SL Kit Carbonio Saddle has a durable Lorica covering in Black. It measures 143mm wide by 275mm long.
